The Vespa T5 was introduced in 1986 and although popular in UK it never gained recognition throughout the rest of Europe. Intended to be the sport version of the Vespa P range it featured a more up to date 5 transfer port aluminium cylinder and central spark plug cylinder head. It used a 200cc clutch although with lower gearing and a 24mm Dellorto carburettor which was shorter in height and had a larger air filter than the 200cc. Body wise the T5 had an extra section welded to the back of the frame earning the name 'square tail', a different horncover, mudguard and the floor board runners had been replaced with a mat. Most noticeable was the rectangular headset with speedo and rev counter combined.
